TUC Rally and Tunnel2 Tower Run
18/10/2012

This weekend the TUC and Tunnel2 Towers Run events will take place in central London enforcing a number of route restrictions and transport closures.

Both events will result in road closures, not just on the route of the events but also adjacent roads. Lane closures and turn restrictions will also be used on roads surrounding the routes in order to facilitate the events.

As with all major road closure programmes PIE will be providing route restriction information and impacted postcodes for freight operators and local authorities.

Large crowds of tens and thousands are expected to be drawn to the two events consisting of the TUC march on Saturday beginning at 11 am and the Tunnel2 Towers 5k charity run on Sunday. The route restrictions and diversions will come in to place on Friday night.

200,000 people are expected to participate in the TUC Rally marching along Victoria Embankment and through central London to Hyde Park.

The Tunnel 2 Towers run starts in Southwark Park Bermondsey then goes through the Rotherhithe Tunnel and Wapping, finishing at Billingsgate Market.

PIE Mapping has put together data detailing the affected postcodes, closed roads and the inaccessible areas based on day and night time restrictions. This data is available via the PIE Data Exchange for the TUC Rally (www.piedataexchange.com/shop/category/rallies-and-marches/and Tunnel 2 Towers Run (www.piedataexchange.com/shop/category/sporting-events/) as well as TfL’s Freight Journey Planner -http://freightplanner.tfl.gov.uk. Users signed up to the London Lorry Control Route Approver can get this data within their membership dashboard London Lorry Control Route Approver

PIE has previously provided route restriction data for the Olympics, Paralympics and London Triathlon amongst others.
