Triathlon route data from PIE
17/09/2012

Virgin Active brings the next big sporting event to London with the upcoming Triathlon in September and PIE Mapping will be providing route restriction information for it.

The weekend - 22nd and 23rd September will see over 13,000 triathletes compete in this year’s Virgin London Marathon, an IMG Challenger World Event, returning for its 16th year. The Excel centre in Newham will represent the start and finish points but competitors will be racing across London and road closures will be extensive in order to facilitate the event.

Saturday’s route will cover the London borough of Newham along the Albert Docks.

Sunday will see longer routes as the race stretches right across London from Excel, Newham in the East to Victoria Embankment and the Houses of Parliament in the West. Road closure restrictions will apply from 1am Saturday and last until the end of the weekend.

PIE Mapping (www.PIEmapping.com) has put together data detailing the affected postcodes, closed roads and the inaccessible areas based on day and night time restrictions. This data is available via the PIE Data Exchange (http://www.piedataexchange.com/shop/) as well as TfL’s

Freight Journey Planner -http://freightplanner.tfl.gov.uk. Users signed up to the London Lorry Control Route Approver can get this data within their membership dashboard http://www.londonlorrycontrol.com/londonevents/valt
